I'd never known what it was to be part of a work family, until I joined Carrot.

Carrot is a company with merit, status and awesome personality. I didn't really know this when Alexis, Director of People and Culture, reached out to me regarding a social analytics position. I remember the words "crazy passionate," "hustle our asses off," and "isn't bullshit" in the email. As a millennial, I'm impressed by companies that aren't afraid to talk like real human beings and cuss every once and awhile. From our initial phone call to my in-person interview, I became increasingly more intrigued.

Social analytics can be a tricky field to navigate. Social analysts range from fresh-out-of-college BA/BS holders, to seasoned marketers who've migrated from client service to analytics, to data scientists with PhDs in mathematics or physics. Although the field is exploding, it can be hard to find an organization that takes data seriously. Carrot is one of those organizations. Upon meeting Tully, Director of Analytics, we instantly connected over the awesome power of harnessing social data. I was pleased to have our IRL meeting followed up by social connections on LinkedIn, and eventually Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

I had a lot of choices to pick from before deciding to go with Carrot, but I knew instinctively that Carrot was the way to go. Since joining, my life has improved. Not only am I eating more fruit (company provided), my passion for social analytics has been re-ignited. I'm genuinely impressed by my coworkers, especially my team: Harris, Kurt and Tully. Each of them have skills and expertise that compliment my own. As Aristotle once wrote, "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts." Collectively, we're a social analytics powerhouse.

I feel lucky to have joined a team of analysts who are super smart and dedicated, who get seriously excited about data. It takes a special kind of nerd to enjoy doing what I do. I couldn't be more grateful that my once-considered-useless psychology degree and neurotic, analytical nature have coalesced into a maturing career. And, now I have a great team (both the analytics and entire Carrot team) to support and motivate me with a culture that I am so excited to be a part of and contribute to.

Plus, now I live and work in Brooklyn and have way more followers on Twitter and Instagram!
