The Carrot Blog

“Um, well….I quit my job already. What should I do?” This is what was going through my mind October 9th, when I received news that would eventually change the course of my life (dramatic, but true).

It sounds cliche, but my introduction - and eventual hiring - to Carrot was a serendipitous, happy accident. I had secured a great position at a small division of a large holding company agency (I know, I know) starting in mid-October. And as fate would have it, the scope got pulled the day before I was suppose to start, thereby pushing my start date back indefinitely. Naturally, I freaked out--I had quit my job and there was no going back. Panic slowly set in.

Now as many of you folks know, this happens all the time in advertising, but this time I was the one getting the short end of the stick. Not wanting to wait around, and trying to not have a complete melt-down, I re-started my search for the perfect work-home.

I stumbled upon Carrot on LinkedIn, and absolutely loved their philosophy and all the amazing work they did. It felt like this could be something really special. But was I even cool enough to work there?

Lucky for me, I was asked to come in for an interview not long after I applied online. After the most intense advertising interview process I have ever experienced (1st interview, then take home test, followed by 3 hour marathon team interview), here I am. Now, I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not thankful for that sudden detour back in October that landed me in Dumbo.

I believe that fate only takes you so far, then it’s up to you to hustle and figure out how to make it happen. I feel grateful, everyday, to be part of this exciting moment in Carrot’s history and I’m curious to see where this crazy little place takes me next :)
